What is the meaning of defence quota in train for army people in India? If you live in India, then you must know that Indian Railways is the largest and busiest railway network in the world. And you must understand that reservation on a train starts 4 months in advance. If you make a reservation 3 to 4 months in advance, you get seat confirmation. If you make a reservation 1 week or less in advance. So you will not get a confirmed seat. You have to be satisfied with the waiting list only.
When it comes to the army jawan, he is not able to plan his journey 3 to 4 months in advance, so he gets his ticket done a week or maximum 2 weeks in advance, due to which he does not get a confirmed seat. So the Indian Railways has given a quota of some seats in some trains to the army personnel, which we know as the Defence Quota in train.
